Drunken Goddess Reflux demo & closed playtest

Status

Why the demo was cancelled

In its October 16 announcement, Alliance Arts apologized for the late change and gave two reasons:[Alliance Arts]

1. Streaming rules it could not enforce. The demo was going to ship with limits on posting and streaming gameplay, but the team concluded it was not in a position to manage those limits properly.
2. Fear of AI clones. The team was concerned that works imitating the game’s presentation and gameplay could be produced quickly “using AI or other tools” and released before the real game.

Coverage framed this as a small team protecting a viral concept: Kotaku noted the game was ranked around 65th on Steam’s most-wishlisted list at the time.[Kotaku] The cancellation did not affect the December 8, 2026 launch date.[Gematsu]

What the demo would have contained

Before the cancellation, the demo was announced as a free Steam Next Fest download starting October 19, 2026.[Games Press] Japanese press reported it would cover roughly the first 20 minutes of the game.[Denfaminicogamer] Press report
